BACKGROUND
“100% Jamaican, born and bred”
The Kingston-born singer was raised in the parish of St. Ann, home of the legendary Bob Marley.
She was influenced by music at a very young age, thanks to her mother who was an aspiring singer then.
Her role-models included the likes of ‘timeless artistes’ such as Diana King, J.C. Lodge, Marcia Griffiths,
Garnett Silk, Whitney Houston,
Toni Braxton, Mariah Carey,Anita Baker and Aretha Franklin.
The singer recalled that she first found her ‘voice’, when her high-school friends requested her to sing a song by Whitney Houston.
She knew then from that moment she was going to pursue a career in music.
In 2003, she had caught the attention of the late Coxone Dodd of Studio One records where she recorded and released
her first official single " Old Hurt". Even after parting with the label, she continued to record and release
music independently for fans who have grown to appreciate her uplifting and soulful music.
Although her ultimate desire was to embark upon a musical journey; life took a turn where she decided to pursue
a career in education. Soulchild-Tanice believed that nothing happened by chance and it was destined for her to pursue
both 'gifts' despite going up against the odds.
To prove her dedication to both passions' she was relentless and continued to purse her musical path, as well as becoming
an advocate for Literacy education. With a single album (No Limitations) under her belt, this talented female continues
to make time for what she enjoys doing, which she believes has saved her and kept her grounded over the years.
As an accomplished singer , she continues to hone her 'craft' and make good music for her fans across the globe.
Her inspirational single 'Give Praises' -another collaborative project,
with local producers like Alex Martin-Blanken
was officially released in February 2024 and more recently Jimmy Cliff;s cover "Sitting in Limbo' is available on, Itunes, Spotify
and other digital streaming platforms worldwide.
